about

I borrow a familiar image that connects directly to the viewer through an intersection of common memory, and by over-driving essential elements strive to produce an image more viscerally present than photo accuracy.

I paint with one color at a time, just the primaries, red, yellow, and blue along with white. Each pigment is reduced to transparency and applied in layers, with colors mixing on the canvas back to front. Only slight amounts of tube paint are used and finished paintings are light reactive like stained glass, with transparent depth under a smooth waxy surface.
